Welcome, Myrtle!

We're getting a turtle. It's actually a tortoise, but then we would have to rename her "Mortoise". So she'll be a turtle, at least around here. We're inheriting her from the same family that welcomed us into the Orthodox church. You can see a picture here. Apparently she's quite the schmooser...

What I find odd about owning a turtle is the whole food thing. I'll be raising, and feeding, crickets for this pet. These crickets will get extra calcium in their water, because Myrtle has "shell issues". Poor things. Talk about getting someone's hopes up. "Boy, my exoskeleton feels great these days!" CRUNCH.

Cynicism

Some days I feel like I want to try to track my decent into political cynicism, and other days I'd like to return to my head-in-the-sand roots. Today is Election Day, and my husband is a political activist. God bless that man. Today, the voters of our city get to decide whether they trust our city council with another boatload of their money. Lord have mercy.
